Writing Club

Welcome to the Writing Club!

Magnify Your Scientific Writing Journey Are you a student developing or refining your scientific writing skills? The Writing Club at UTHSC is here to support you in this intricate journey. Our motto is: “Don’t leave the page blank”.

Unlock Your Writing Potential

Our club aims to provide a supportive environment where students can embark on their scientific writing journey. Whether you're working on a grant proposal, articles, dissertations, or any other writing task, our club offers the perfect environment to refine your skills and receive valuable feedback from your peers and mentors when needed.

Foster Motivation and Structure

We understand the importance of motivation and structure when it comes to academic writing. By joining our club, you can harness the power of a dedicated time allocation to boost your motivation and establish healthy writing habits. With weekly meetings and engaging discussions, we aim to create an atmosphere that inspires and motivates you to write consistently. We want to encourage you to dedicate time to your writing as if it was a class, 3hrs per week and set your own goals like homework.

Embrace the College’s Philosophy

At UTHSC, the College of Graduate Health firmly believes that regular writing practice is essential for students. Our student-led initiative aligns with this philosophy, encouraging you to prioritize writing every week. By taking part in our club activities, you not only contribute to the promotion of this important principle but also find a supportive community to help you overcome any feelings of isolation that graduate students often encounter.

Need Help to Start?

During the last meeting of every month, the club hosts a mentorship activity. The experienced mentors will provide personalized feedback for any writing proficiency levels, including support for non-native English speakers, and those tackling their first scientific articles. You'll receive valuable and tailored constructive criticism to meet your specific needs. These mentorship sessions empower you on your writing journey by guiding you through grammar, clarity, and overall structure, ensuring your ideas shine through.

Join the Writing Club Weekly Meetings

Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to become a part of a dynamic community of writers. Join and take your scientific writing skills to the next level. Together, we will exchange, learn from each other, and perfect our skills, all while enjoying the camaraderie.

The club meets every Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00 pm in the Translational Research Science Building, Room 101.
