University of Tennessee Health Science Center Complaint Policies for Certain Distance Education Students (SARA)
The following complaint procedures apply to: · Students who are non-Tennessee residents inÌýÌýand who are enrolled in a UT Health Science CenterÌýdistance education program or course; or · Students who are attending an out-of-state learning placement in aÌýÌýother than Tennessee.
Complaints covered by these policies include alleged violations of SARA policies and claims of dishonest or fraudulent activity. These procedures do not apply to complaints related to student grades or student conduct violations. For more information about complaint subject matter, see theÌý, Sections 4.2 and 4.3.
UT Health Science Center Complaint Policies
Students must first follow the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s institutional complaint procedures. Information on institutional complaint processes is available at:Ìý.Ìý
Additional Complaint Options:
- Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC)
- Students (as described above)Ìýmust complete UT Health Science Center’s complaint processÌýbefore appealing to THEC.
- Students who are not satisfied with UT Health Science Center’s resolution of their complaint may appeal the decision to THEC using theÌýÌýform. Information on THEC’s complaint process is available atÌý. Students may also contactÌýTHEC.RCD@tn.govÌýwith questions.
- The appealÌýto THEC must be filedÌýwithin two (2) yearsÌýof the incident about which the complaint is made.
- Out-of-state students may also contact theirÌýhome state higher education authority; however, students may be referred to THEC. SeeÌýÌýfor a listing of SARA states and contacts.
- Students residing inÌýnon-SARA states,Ìýcurrently California only, should consult their state of residence for further instructions on filing a complaint.
