2 Extra Sports Medicines Electives and/or rotational emphases as below
Elective Choices and Rotation Adaptations:
Orthopedics/Surgical Subspecialties: Shoulder, Foot and Ankle, Hand, Knee/Hip
Neurology: 2 weeks will be spent with the Erlanger Neuromuscular group observing EMG/NCS.
Pediatric Subspecialty: 2 weeks will be spent with pediatric orthopedist Dr. Merritt
Adams.
Musculoskeletal Radiology
AMSSM Conference:
Residents on the sports medicine track will be placed on a vacation eligible rotation
during the time the annual AMSSM Conference is held (end of April) during their PGY-1,
PGY-2, and PGY-3 years to be given the chance to attend the conference.
Submit a poster presentation for AMSSM at least once (Dr. Jeremy Bruce can assist)
Sports Medicine Chief Role:
Elected PGY-3 year will assist/mentor colleagues in networking and learning opportunities
(such as sports coverage/physicals) to prepare them for fellowship applications.
