How to Access Training

Information Security Training is a series of audiovisual modules, each followed by a听 quiz. This training is designed to help our campus community understand their responsibilities in a variety of information security areas, such as protecting ePHI and other confidential data, awareness of phishing schemes, safeguarding passwords, and practicing general computing safety.

New Employees

New employees should complete training within 30 days of being hired.

  1. 骋辞听迟辞 听and select UT Faculty and Staff option.
  2. Log in with your NetID and password.
  3. Click on My Active Courses
  4. Click the UTHSC Annual Compliance Training course link assigned to you.听
  5. in 2025, the Information Security Awareness curriculum allows users to conduct a pre-check test. If you pass the test, you do not have to view the modules. Your completed training will show in your transcript.

If you have completed security training at another UT institution this year and can provide proof of training, you will be exempt until next year's training.

All Faculty and听 Staff听

Every听year, faculty and staff must complete the training assigned.

  3. Click on My Active Courses
  4. Click the UTHSC IT Security Awareness course link assigned to you.听
    View the modules and complete the quizzes.
  5. Your completed training will show in your transcript.

Students

Students are not required to take Security Awareness Training. If a student wishes to learn more about security awareness, please contact the Office of Cybersecurity at itsecurity@uthsc.edu.听

Supervisors
Supervisors will need to contact K@TE administrators for reports on their departments and staff.听

2025 Update

Training for the 2025 calendar year for current employees will take place during April and May, along with other mandatory compliance training.听

New hires still have only 30 days from their start date to complete their training to stay in compliance听with UTHSC requirements.听

Information Security Training was created to provide UTHSC community members with a solid understanding of the university's information security policies, procedures, and best practices as well as applicable government regulations and laws.

Security Awareness Training is dictated by the 听on security awareness, training, and education.

It is our mission to increase your knowledge and awareness of potential security pitfalls, which in turn will reduce the risk to the university's computing and data resources and help prevent costly, reputation-damaging data breaches.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Each October, ITS supports National Cyber Security Awareness Month by being a champion of the month.听 Our dedicated page has information as well as fun games to learn more about cybersecurity.

UTHSC is a National Cyber Security听Awareness Month (NCSAM) Champion. By joining this consortium of government, nonprofit, and academic organizations, we show the University's dedication to the shared responsibility we all have to make the Internet more secure for our students, faculty, staff, and the Mid-South Health Professions Community.听 University of Tennessee Health Science Center promotes cyber security听utilizing outreaching tactics such as activities and events.
