Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health
The Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) serves as the academic and clinical arm of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. We provide comprehensive psychological services across Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s inpatient and outpatient settings. These services include psychological evaluations, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and consultation for medically complex and acutely ill children. The division works in close collaboration with other hospital-based mental health specialties, including social work, chaplaincy, child life, and the Division of Psychiatry, to ensure integrated, family-centered care.Â

Message from the Division Chief
The Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive psychological services to children and families across a wide range of medical, developmental, and behavioral conditions. Our team works in close collaboration with pediatricians, neurologists, neuropsychologists, cardiologists, and other specialists to ensure that mental and behavioral health are fully integrated into the care of our patients. We offer services at Le Bonheur’s downtown campus, with a commitment to accessible, family-centered care.
Our faculty are deeply engaged in clinical research and education, contributing to studies on pediatric epilepsy, neurodevelopmental outcomes, health disparities, and culturally responsive care. We also play an active role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals through supervision of students, interns, and fellows from the University of Memphis, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and other affiliated programs.
Dr. Patricia Logan, an Associate Professor at UTHSC, serves as a psychologist in the Divisions of Developmental Pediatrics and Cardiology. She provides expert developmental evaluations and behavioral interventions for children with complex medical needs. Dr. Adrienne Arrindell, an Instructor at UTHSC, brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective with her background in clinical psychology and health law. Her clinical and research interests include eating disorders, health equity, and advocacy for underserved populations. Dr. Gwen Beard, Assistant Professor and Pediatric Psychologist in the Division of Pediatric Neurology, specializes in psychological assessment and intervention for children with neurological conditions and is trained in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), an evidence-based, non-medication therapy designed to help individuals manage tic disorders, including Tourette syndrome. Â She is actively involved in professional organizations such as the Society of Pediatric Psychology.
As Division Chief, I am honored to lead this exceptional team. My own clinical and research focus centers on pediatric epilepsy and epilepsy surgery, and I hold the Trish Ring Endowed Chair of Psychology at Le Bonheur. Our division is dedicated to advancing behavioral health care through innovation, equity, and collaboration. Together, we are building a robust and inclusive program that supports the whole child, mind and body.
