Psychology
ÌýThe CDD's Psychology clinic provides comprehensive developmental and psychological evaluations for children suspected of having a neurodevelopmental disability to inform a differential diagnosis and provide individualized recommendations for treatment to families. The evaluations assess the child’s individual strengths and challenges. The clinic specializes in the assessment of autism, intellectual developmental disorder, and other related disorders. Our psychologists collaborate closely with families, schools, and interdisciplinary professionals to create a personalized evaluation tailored to the questions and concerns of families. As a teaching and training facility, we involve graduate-level psychology students (i.e., practicum placement students and predoctoral interns) in clinical care services under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists. A typical assessment at our center includes an in-depth clinical interview, structured or semi-structured assessments, and a variety of adaptive, social-emotional, and behavior rating scales. Following the assessment, families will receive feedback and a detailed report with recommendations from the psychologist.
