߲ݴý College of Pharmacy is partnering with the Therapeutic Research Center to launch a comprehensive online pharmacy technician training program for you. Access Pharmacy Technicians University today to get:

  1. Easy-to-use, engaging multimedia courses designed for technicians of all levels
  2. Modules divided into short parts you can complete at your own pace
  3. Knowledge checks and learning activities to help you retain information as you progress through the program
  4. Web-based training for access from any Internet-connected computer (simply pause and resume courses as needed!)
  5. Thorough exam prep for the PTCE®, ExCPT, and CSPT™ exams.
  6. Curriculum supporting various learning modalities, including on-demand print materials.

Registration Steps

  3. Example: “Pharmacy Technician Training Program Cohort 20: January 2026”
  4. Scroll down to “I am a” and select which payment fee type you would like to make.
  5. Please note: if you are registering for the first time, you will only use either the “Paid In Full” or “Pharm Tech Training Payment #1”.
  6. Click on the green “Purchase Now” button.
  7. Login or make an account.
  8. When making your account, if you select “Pharmacy Technician”, an NABP/ACPE ID Number is required. Please just enter five-six zeros.
  9. Once you are done logging in or making an account, scroll down and click the green “Purchase” button.
  10. Continue to follow through the pages to make your payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the program accept financial aid?

No, because this is not a degree-granting program, and the learners are not enrolled students at the University. We offer this program through our Office of Continuing Professional Development, which is similar to other continuing education programs.
Does the program offer a payment plan?
Yes, you have the option to pay in 3 equal payments. Your first payment of $600 is due at the time of sign-up. Then, your second and third payments are due 30 days and 60 days after the program start date or before you finish the program. It is your responsibility to log in and make your payments on time. We will send out friendly payment reminder emails, but there is no automatic withdrawal. For example, if you select the payment plan and have made 2 out of the 3 payments and come close to completion, we have the liberty to deny access to the program until you complete your payments.

How do I apply for the program?

The program has no application process since it is not a degree-granting program, and the learners are not enrolled students. We do not require you to submit an application, complete a background check, participate in an interview, or send in transcripts, for example.

Do I have to be accepted into the program?

No, there is no formal application process. You will sign up, make your payment, and have access to the program on the start date. We highly encourage learners to review the requirements of the state where they plan to work as pharmacy technicians.

Those requirements can be found on the state’s Board of Pharmacy website in the state where you plan to work. It is your responsibility to determine whether this program aligns with your goals. We do not certify that this program or any learner meets the requirements to work as a pharmacy technician in any state.

Do you require any prerequisites or requirements to sign up for the program?
No, our program requires no prerequisites or other requirements to join the program.

Is this program approved in my state?

Please review the requirements on the state Board of Pharmacy’s website in the state in which you are seeking licensure/registration. If you have further questions, please reach out to the Board directly.

It is your responsibility to determine whether this program aligns with your goals. We do not certify that this program or any learner meets the requirements to work as a pharmacy technician in any state.

How do I sign up?

Please navigate to: . Click the “Home Study” tab to find your correlating program start date and payment type.

For example, if you would like to sign up for the Fall 2024 cohort and want a payment plan, you will navigate to “Pharmacy Technician Training Program FALL24|Pay 1”.

What happens after I sign up?

After registration completion, approximately 1-2 weeks before the program start date, you will receive an email with an optional meet-the-faculty virtual meeting from the program director, Dr. Rachel Barenie.

On the start date of the cohort (listed on the website), you will receive your Username and Password to the site and some other helpful information. After that, we will send you weekly or bi-weekly emails to let you know about your progress and check in to make sure you are receiving adequate assistance.

May I start the program at any time?

No, the program’s start date is the first day you can access it. We usually post our next cohort start date on our website about 2-3 months in advance.

How long will I have to complete the program?

You will have access to the program for 24 weeks. However, if you finish the program in 12 weeks or less, our staff will issue you a voucher to cover the application cost to apply for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam.

What do I do once I complete the program and receive my certificate?

Once you receive your “certificate of completion” from our platform vendor (the Therapeutics Research Center), you will use it to apply to take the national certificate exam offered through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). You must apply to sit for the PTCB exam.
